"A
little background on the artist."
Jim grew up with a
fondness for the outdoors. He grew up hunting
and fishing in Wisconsin. As his interest in the outdoors and the
creatures who live in it grew, he began to
draw what he saw. Encouraged by friends and family, Jim pursued his
interest in art and his love for the outdoors.
While attending Bradford
High School in Kenosha, Wisconsin, Jim received many honors for his art.
Following graduation, he attended Viterbo Fine Arts College in LaCrosse,
Wisconsin. Being surrounded by the beauty of what people refer to as
“Gods’ country, in the LaCrosse area, Jim became increasingly more
interested in the relationship he was developing between his art and his
love for the outdoors. Jim spent most of his free time hunting, fishing
and observing the outdoors, then would return to the art studio where he
would attempt to bring his experiences back on canvas or paper.
Jim has since dedicated
his life to his love as an outdoorsman and a wildlife artist. He uses his
art to share his respect and admiration for the outdoors and its
inhabitants with others.
On this website you have
the opportunity to share in Jim Tostrud's Wildlife Visions.
